Thanks Dania! Yeah, I have to believe every long hauler has at least a few stories about the ridiculous scenarios that led to a crash 🤦🏼‍♀️. Our nervous systems are so reactive now.

And, c’mon over! Parker won’t mess with you. Just don’t bring a cat 😹

Just a thought; They speak of cortisol levels and I know there was speculation early-on that anxiety was an indication of someone’s likelihood to have LC. We all know where they were going with that..... But I don’t disagree for a different reason: Anxiety is your body’s early response to something that has not yet happened. Maybe LC is your body’s early response to an illness it fears getting again. Iv’e often wondered if there is synergy to our overall being, If our health problems aren’t somehow mirrored in our personality, as if our being receives guidance from a central algorithm.

An interesting thought, Paul! And pretty much what’s behind a lot of the brain retraining stuff that’s been emerging around recovery from ME/CFS and long COVID. One guy I like is on YouTube: Dan of Pain Free You. He posts daily videos and here’s today’s: https://youtu.be/CfW59-ONXGY?feature=shared

I love cat drama. I live for it. Also root canals are already the worst I take a sedative every time. I hope you are recovering finally. If only we could all stand in a circle of salt with brooms holding hands to transfer some healing energy to the long haulers.

I love that visual!

No joke, last week was probably my 8th root canal in two years 🤦🏼‍♀️. My childhood dental negligence has all come crashing down on me at once. So many crowns too 😫

Just tell anyone who asks that you have a mini-clowder of cats, some indoor, some outdoor, and that's that.

Will also check a couple of the links you posted.

Bonus points for the Spock meme! 😎

ALL OF THIS! thank you for the meticulously researched info above (and for the reminder to order my free tests). Also, I appreciate every nuance of the cat dump. I have been in similar situations although haven’t had a Parker in my life, he sounds badass, and I’ll definitely call before setting foot on your property. 😆😆😆

The quote that there’s no long covid without covid strikes me as a bit odd. I get that the take away is to avoid getting infected. But post viral illnesses aren’t new.

That’s true, they’re not. But why does that make the quote any less true? Not every post-viral illness is long COVID, and we do know how to take precautions to avoid this one.

But I do share the sentiment of avoiding reinfection! One note on that, I didn’t see anything about air purifiers which seem really promising.

My concern is that a lot of researchers have ignored the overlap of long covid and post viral illnesses. You can have identical symptoms without ever having had covid. There’s also a small risk of long covid from vaccines (way smaller than from actual covid).

I just listened to a podcast by a microbiologist knee-deep in long COVID (who had also been an ME/CFS researcher prior) and she was cautioning against calling LC the same illness as ME/CFS. I’ll include it in my next post. None of which means that I don’t think we should focus research efforts on ME. There’s so much great research already out there that isn’t being harnessed.

Point taken re: vax-injured long haulers. My MIL is one. I guess the quote was really aimed at those out there who keep getting reinfected because they’re not taking any precautions and thinking that if they got through COVID once without developing LC, they’ll get through it again and again.
