That article about the plane of cruisers getting sick gave me Triangle of Sadness PTSD and you could not PAY me to get on one (if you have not seen that movie plz DO NOT watch it I am horrified I even glanced at the TV while husband had it on)
Triangle of Sadness PTSD is REAL 😭 Same. You could not pay me to get on a cruise. (I felt that way before the movie pero like it was def reinforced after.)
Oh, there's *even more* to the license guy's story. He never had one. He's never had a valid license, and when asked by a reporter, he claims he can't recall ever having one. I know this because of a local news story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QZjYvC5168
“When you are the way that you are for over four decades, taking a few years to unlearn old patterns and integrate new ones doesn’t really seem that long.” I love all the wisdom that is really shining through in your posts. Also how inclusive they are in shining a light on the BIPOC and LBGTQA+ communities.
I don’t know much about the athlete you mention here but I do relate to another one in history (and athletes in general). Roger bannister broke the 4 minute mile in 1954. After the medical community deemed this impossible, was bold enough to state that death would be the outcome of such an achievement. He was studying to be a doctor so part of him believed opinion to be true. But the bigger part of him knew there was a way. I relate a lot to him in my own journey. The world tells me it’s not possible to heal myself fully. Yet my belief is unwavering, unshakeable - I’m entirely comfortable with where I am now being my lot, I’m very happy to be thus healthy and well. Grateful. Fully accepting. And yet my belief tells me there’s more to come.
I also read in a book about the science of floatation tank therapy (a therapy I have every fortnight) that athletes do not wait for it to be proven, they ask themselves “will this work?”. I def identify with this approach.
Have you ever come across any info on recovery, as in average time? I saw something in passing about a 5 year average. I think me and you have been fairly similar. A book I read on fibro was a story of someone around the same. I’m really comfortable with how long it’s taken me (though I do feel envious when for the rare occasion of others where it’s a year). To the vast majority of the community, ours would be what only many others are dreaming of. And I love the way we’re shining a light on what’s possible.
I had previously read that recovery from post-viral illnesses can take 3+ years. Although the world has never seen a virus like COVID. Here’s what the latest research says:
“While many of the more than 200 Long COVID symptoms “generally improve over time,” recovery tends to plateau at 6 to 12 months after the initial COVID infection. Full recovery at one year only happens in about 22% of people with Long COVID at this time.”
If you watch the recovery YouTube channels though, you’ll hear from people recovering many years after originally getting ME/CFS or long COVID. So I’m choosing hope!
I’m waiting for part 2 of Bridgerton so I can binge the whole thing. I waited this long … also husband and I got Covid on a cruise. Cruises for him. I still don’t know how I didn’t get it (and we tested aggressively) the first time. Did manage two long haul flights and a bus tour without getting it though (did catch a nasty cold — which I repeatedly tested).
Yes! Simone rocks. Thanks for that reminder. Bridgerton also rocks. I cannot Netflix yet, so I feel like I cannot go back into society until I haven't seen season 3... And THANKS for the cat content. The amount of time I can spend online is reduced, so it's awesome to have important info, Simone and cats all in one place! 😄
You rock, Amy! Thanks so much for the mention, means a lot! And once more, for an amazing roundup. Woot! 💃🏻
Thank YOU, doc! 🧡
DEFERRED WELLNESS!
Zira is looking gorge

I’ve never heard of this movie! <goes to Google>. Oh dear. Yes, that seals the deal: no cruises for me.

Thanks for the shout-out for Long Covid Weekly Amy! And as a GAY...thanks for the Rainbow Randy reprieve! Makes me so happy.
Happy Pride month, Amy!!
Thanks for this, I really appreciate your work. And your cats! ☺️🕊️🤍🐾
Thank you for reading! 😺
