I don't know if you have considered following my protocol. As you know, it is founded on science and, for the few who have tried it... and who adhered and stuck with it... it has worked. I'm in my 70's Amy and despite the odds, I seem to have beaten LC after more than two years of illness and nearly dying. This is based on curing LC, not treating symptoms. I sincerely hope that some who read my posts will give it a try. It takes time, but it works.
Thanks Mardi. After trying so many different diets and supplements, I’m finally in a pretty good place with that. I’ve been on a gluten- and dairy-free, low sugar diet all summer and I think it’s helping. Tons of veggies. I was already a pescatarian. I’ve dramatically decreased my nut/seed intake. At this point, I just don’t think it would be healthy for me to cut out much more. I have decreased most of my supplements because I felt no discernible difference except to my bank account. I did just purchase a powder formula that has 15 mitochondrial supplements in one (Ari Whitten’s Energenesis). We’ll see if that makes a difference now that I am doing a bit better.
While not a fan of the author, The Plant Paradox Diet (book of the same name), was what make a radical shift in my well being. Going onto it, within 3 days virtually all of the systemic inflammatory symptoms stopped. I no longer needed antihistamines, my body stopped aching, my clarity of mind began to return. It took much longer to repair my gut which was badly injured by COVID. (Context: I'm a mucosal immunologist by training so this statement is founded in both professional and personal experience.) Ultimately, I came to understand that it was the lectins in many foods that had never previously been a problem for me. They were perpetuating the leaky gut which had left me tied to the toilet. It took about 6 months for my gut to totally heal. Now BMs are normal.
Now, after being on the diet for more than a year, I have been trying various foods that are generally high lectin. IF I cook in a pressure cooker, it really helps. Re nuts: BLANCHED almonds and regular walnuts are safe.
While for ethical reasons I prefer a high nut and seed and bean based diet, I had to alter this in order to return to health.
Also necessary are the medium chain fatty acids. They are critical for giving mitochondria the fuel needed to function and to heal. I find that if I have an energy dip, that a teaspoon of oil will normally bring me back up to speed in about 30 minutes.
I am also very aware of the issue of stress and over-exercising. I do have a good deal of stress in my life and I have now returned to daily exercise, but I self-monitor to good effect.
Amy, LC is destroying so many lives. I just want to give folks the insights that saved my life and apparently, the lives of a few who have shared their successes with me.
Thanks for sharing this important reminder for all of us ❤️
Yes, it really is. Thanks for reading, my friend 🥰
Thank you for sharing Amy.
Thank you for being here, Mardi
