Resonated hard with the intense approach to recovery 😮‍💨 and I think so many of us can relate to not feeling worthy of rest during chronic illness. You should be proud of your progress and retraining your thoughts to honor the need for rest—your story is inspiring!

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the Gupta program, if you’re comfortable sharing! I tried their free trial when I didn’t know where to turn during my LC journey but was hesitant at the time. It seems to have been helpful for many people though

I have to second Catherine’s comment about Gupta. I got a lot out of it as far as information and gaining the confidence that rewiring my thought patterns could help. His video modules are beautifully produced and he is a likable figure. That said, I gave the program a try in earnest twice, and while I made some gains, ultimately I found it a bit tedious to stick to, which affected my motivation.

I have heard great things about Primal Trust from Catherine and several others. I chose to go with CFS Recovery instead because the coaching model just spoke more to me (group coaching calls, 1:1 support, and a concrete recovery plan). For where I got to in recovery on my own (75%), it was the right fit for me to bust through my plateau. Just about two months in and I’d say I’m now at 85%.

Thanks for sharing!

I haven’t heard of Primal Trust or CFS recovery until now so I will definitely check them out. I wish I found Substack last year when I was in the peak of my symptoms, this community is so knowledgeable 📚

Your progress is fantastic!! That’s amazing that the program was able to help you get past the plateau, hoping for continued improvements in your recovery 🤍

Thank you! And, look at it this way - if your peak symptoms are a year behind you, you’re doing better! 😎 And maybe one of these programs will help nudge you along as well 🤞🏻

I hope you don't mind my sharing as a fellow LC recoverer...I also dipped my toe into Gupta, but I've had MUCH more success with Primal Trust. PT also has brain retraining and parts (the core stuff of Gupta), but much more comprehensive (somatics, nervous system work, community, and deeper levels if you want/need them. I felt Ashok Gupta was a sincere, kind, and likable person...and not an ounce of grift (my biggest flag in these paid programs), but Cathleen King is also all that, and just much more relatable for me. I went from endless boom/bust cycles and maybe 1500 steps a day tolerance last July to MUCH more steady stretches of feeling well and more like an average 7000 steps a day. It's no silver bullet, there's a lot of deep work for me to do because my entire personality has to be examined and reconsidered...but it's working. Best $24 I spend every week.

IT'S ME TO A T. Down to the details. G & T!

Have you gone down the RCCX gene theory rabbit hole? Dr. Sharon Megalethary posits the same gene that carries susceptibility to these illnesses also encodes us with a certain over-attuned neuroticism and drive for goodness. Great for being the sentinels, acting as an early warning system, and protecting the tribe...as long as it's just a small percentage of the village.

I'm obsessed with it. Worth the google!

Amy, I don't know if I read this when it first was posted, but WOW does it ring familiar to me now! It was a bit like reading my own story...swap the partying siblings for the partying parent friends, swap the athletics for art and... lets call them Acts of Service, lol...and the rest is fairly identical! I never named my Achiever part though ...that'll be fun. Thanks for this one.

....and my Perfectionist part just had me thinking I should've been MORE clever and made Letit's last name be Gaux. It never ends.

This comment made me realize that the quality of memes online has gotten crappier. My earlier posts (like this one) had much stronger memes. Glad you liked these 🙃
