Hi friends - I’m here with an exciting mid-week announcement and I hope you’ll indulge me for just a few minutes to learn more.
I have “met” some fiercely funny and smart writers since I joined Substack last July and a few I’d venture to actually call friends. One such gem whom I’ve had the pleasure of Zooming with here and there is
, who writes a brilliant newsletter called , described as “the Substack home for storytellers and memory hunters in search of the stories that made them.”Miranda’s posts are always super insightful and thought-provoking. As she takes us through her own stories and memories, she helps us ponder what our origin stories say about us, how they connect us to the past, and how they influence the way we shape our future. While her posts are rich with meaning, she is also a funny, humble, and gifted storyteller. You should really run right over and subscribe to her newsletter.
But wait…there’s more
Miranda’s been dropping hints that she had a project in the pipeline, and she announced it last week.
The Memory Mine is a self-guided, 6-week course that uses journalling, prompts, and creative exercises (indoors and outdoors) to get you back in touch with your own story and your own memory.
In Miranda’s words:
If you’ve ever struggled with your own memory, or if you struggle to come up with content for your writing, this may be what you’re looking for.
Here’s what the course promises:
Physical, sensual and emotional strategies to prompt your memory and improve your recall of events from decades ago.
How digging for details can add life and colour to your stories.
How to consciously edit your memories—to decide which contain the spark of a story you want tell and which you’re ready to let go.
How to recall the past without judgement.
How to value and make time for your own story.
Tools to tune in to your daily life—to be awake to your experience and preserve it for the future.
Tools to unearth, record and collate your memories and create a bank of stories you can use for years to come.
Why you don’t have to journal every day to maintain a consistent practice.
Sounds AMAZING. Sign me up!
I messaged Miranda tonight to tell her how great her course sounds and that I was very interested. In The Tonic household, Baldy is always talking in vivid detail about memories he had as a kid or as a young man, and I’m always some combination of awed, mystified, and bummed when he does, because there is SO MUCH I don’t remember from my early days. I think about this often when I read Miranda’s posts in Root Stories.
Does this sound like you too? Do you wish you could access the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feels of your past days? If so, then follow my lead and sign up for her new course. She’s offering a steep discount for anyone who takes the course the first time around, and who doesn’t love a deal?

Let me know if you sign up and we can get inspired together!
In sickness and in health,
✌🏻 Amy
